From its early stirrings in the mid-1800s to its progression through the 1900s and today, the Zionist movement took on many different forms and expressions: Political Zionism, Cultural Zionism, Socialist Zionism, Marxist Zionism, Nationalist Religious Zionism, and Revisionist Zionism. The movement always struggled with internal dissension over ideology, strategy, methodology, power, religiosity, messianism, violence, etc.
